Day 1 – 7/1/2023

Today we did some tests, added a bottle Dr. Tim’s one and only and dosed the ammonia to 2ppm.

We are running for the first 2 weeks at 83° and 20ppt salinity which is supposed to help encourage bacteria colonization. In two weeks we’ll lower the temperature to 80° and raise the salinity to 35ppt.

Inital testing

  • pH – 8.0
  • NH₃ (Ammonia) – 0.25 ppm
  • NO₂ (Nitrite) – 0 ppm
  • NO₃ (Nitrate) – 0 ppm
  • Temperature – 82.3° F
  • Salinity – 20ppt

Dosed 4ml ammonia chloride and 1 bottle of Nitrifying Bacteria.

  • NH₃ (Ammonia) – 2.0 ppm

Aquarium Blog!

I’ve decided to blog the happenings of my aquarium from the initial setup, cycle, addition of fish and critters and eventually corals!

Last weekend I set up the aquarium, its a 32 gallon Corallife Biocube with custom LED lights.

Today in addition to some testing I added Dr. Tim’s nitrifying bacteria starter to help kickstart the healthy ecosystem that break down ammonia to nitrate.
